RANKING ALL NHL ALTERNATE JERSEYS

The National Hockey League has begun to take a new spin on uniforms, by recreating some fan favourites, as well as creating new uniforms to take home. In this list, we will be discussing what the best looking alternate uniforms in the league are (well, at least in my opinion). This list will only include 1 uniform per team, which is obviously the most fair. Do you think your favourite team will make it in the top 10? Stay tuned to find out. 

20. New York Islanders

Lets face it, the Islanders have always had terrible alternate jerseys. This one is honestly one of their better ones all time, but it's still the worst in the league. At least they stuck to their regular colour scheme.

19. Los Angeles Kings

I would have liked the kings to somehow incorporate purple and yellow into a jersey, like what they used to have. Instead, they keep it plain and boring, with a simple grey and black uniform with the same logo.

18. Boston Bruins 

Not much is different from Boston's regular home jersey. This uses a lot more black, and its logo is a big yellow B. Is this a reference to the bee movie?

17. Winnipeg Jets 

Finally, a jersey that's at least a little different than their home counterpart! Unfortunately, this alternate is quite plain. The logo is interesting, though.

16. Edmonton Oilers 

These are quite simple, to say the least. On the good side, these colours contrast well, and the orange looks real nice. Simple, but it works.

15. Colorado Avalanche

While I'm not a big fan of either of the colours used, they do work well together. The logo is pretty sweet too, as is the flag of Colorado on the shoulder. 

14. Vancouver Canucks

Their combination of blue and green is one of the best in the league, so I'm glad they kept it for their alternate. Not a whole lot is changed from the home, so it isn't terribly unique.

13. Anaheim Ducks

The ducks have taken a fan favourite from the 90's and early 2000's, and have given it a modern twist with the orange and black. It looks pretty cool, but it'll never beat the original. 

12. Philadelphia Flyers

The Flyers have kept things classic and consistent with this simple black jersey with orange on the elbows and bottom of the jersey. The black on orange lettering is pretty cool. 

11. San Jose Sharks 

Like Philadelphia, San Jose keeps it classic with a black alternate. The sharks get the edge because the colouring is more unique here, and it looks terrific with the logo. 

10. Columbus Blue Jackets

The Blue Jackets have used this alternate jersey for a while, and that's a good thing. Why fix something that isn't broken? The off-white is a very cool look. 

9. Buffalo Sabres 

Buffalo makes slight changes to their road jerseys, and add a bunch of gold for their 50th season. The gold is a very nice touch, especially on the logo. 

8. Washington Capitals 

These throwbacks have always looked pretty cool. The stars along the chest and sleeves complete the look. A classic, for sure.

7.  Tampa Bay Lightning 

At first, I would've had this lower, but the entire design is just so sleek and simple that it works really nicely. The slow fade on the sleeves look really nice, and it all looks very sharp overall. 

6. Pittsburgh Penguins 

As is true to all of Pittsburgh sports, the Penguins rock a black and yellow look, this time using yellow as the primary look. It works very nicely, to say the least.

5. Ottawa Senators 

The Senators pay tribute to the original team from the early 20th century with these crisp looking uniforms. The silver O reminds us of the silver seven of the past in a nice way. 

4.  Carolina Hurricanes 

Things are trending up for the hurricanes, and this jersey is perfect for the uprising. The logo is phenomenal, and it looks well on a sleek black and red look that was designed perfectly.

3. St. Louis Blues

The defending Stanley Cup Champions look the part in their classic throwbacks. The colour combination is flawless and unique, and the simple striping pattern on the bottom looks timeless. 

2. Calgary Flames

Calgary's case is similar to St. Louis, as both have brought absolutely stunning throwbacks into the mix. I give Calgary the edge because the white C looks awesome with the orange trim.

1. Arizona Coyotes 

Speaking of throwbacks, the number 1 jersey is easily Arizona's throwback from their early years in the late 90's. From the logo, to the colouring, to the pattern, this jersey is absolutely perfect.
